Note: Next to your passport this is the most important document that you can carry with you on your trip. Please read and follow instructions carefully.

There are THREE program assistants this year, Brett Drummond, Gregory Robinson, and Adina Pascalau. You must check in with the assistants at the airport in Atlanta. Adina and Gregory will be at the Continental Airlines ticketing counter and when you arrive you need to check in with them. They will be there from 12:30 pm till 2:00 pm. Later both will be with Brett at the terminal gate and before boarding the plane you must check in with them. For last names ending in A-M, please check in with Adina, and for last names ending in N-Z, check in with Gregory. You will do the same thing when boarding in Newark. This will help to ensure that no one is left behind. We suggest that you arrive at the airport at least two and a half hours before the plane departs from Atlanta (12:30 pm). Remember that Atlanta is in the Eastern Standard Time Zone. Please allow for all possibilities, i.e. accidents on the road and other traffic delays.

If for whatever reason you will not make the flight or are worried that you may not make the flight please call the program assistants, using the following cell phone number: 205-239-5448

If for whatever reason you are separated from the group and the flight from Atlanta/Newark has already departed contact Jose Cano in Spain at the following number: 011(international code)-34 (Spain code)-628343840.

If for whatever reason you are separated from the group and cannot contact Professor Cano, contact our office in Alcala at the following number: 011-34-649740498 and ask for Deborah Whestone (the coordinator of the program), or take a taxi to the following location: Escuela Universitaria Cardenal Cisneros, Avenida de Jesuitas, 34;28805 Alcala de Henares.

Note: You should carry about $100 in cash to exchange for Euros at the machines in the airport in order to pay for a taxi or other transportation in case you are alone upon arrival in Spain. There are also pay computers with internet access in the airport and you can email Professor Cano at the following address: uanspain@bama.ua.edu

You can also find the email address at the program website: www.spain.ua.edu  -These emergency instructions are also posted on that website, so it is very important to memorize the address.

You can also take a taxi to your host family's house in Alcala. You should copy their address and phone number here so as to have all emergency information in one place:

If you arrive in Spain and you do not have this paper or any other way of contacting anyone in the program (i.e. you forgot the website address) go to a police officer in the airport and ask for the U.S. Embassy (La Embajada de los Estados Unidos). The address is Serrano 75, the telephone number is 34-91-587-2200 Again going to the embassy should only be used as your very last resort.

Happy Traveling!!!
